Frequently Asked Questions

What is ARGB?

ARGB (Addressable RGB) allows individual LEDs to be controlled independently, enabling multiple colors and lighting effects to be displayed at the same time on a single ARGB product. In comparison, standard RGB products typically display the same color across all LEDs at any given time.

However, not all ARGB products use the same implementation, and compatibility can vary between products and controllers. Always check the product specifications and connection requirements before connecting an ARGB product.

Do I need the Nexlinq App for the Matrix display?

You don’t need the Nexlinq app directly for housing your PC in the Matrix-supported cases. However, the Nexlinq app is required to set up and customize the Matrix display (system stats, animations, lighting, and custom visuals). Without the app, the Matrix screen cannot be configured and will show the text ‘Matrix 600’ or ‘Matrix 900’ depending on the Matrix display size.

What is NexLinq?

NexLinq is Phanteks’ hardware and software ecosystem for controlling compatible fans, lighting, displays, and other connected devices.

What should I do if NexLinq does not detect my device?

Check the device connections and ensure the latest version of NexLinq software and firmware is installed. As of currently the software and firmware are installed separately from each other; therefore, press the ‘Check For Update’ until there are no more updates and the software is up-to-date. If the issue persists, contact Phanteks technical support.

Can I control Phanteks ARGB products without NexLinq?

Compatible Phanteks ARGB products can be controlled through supported 5V 3-pin mainboard ARGB headers. If you wish to use third-party software to control the ARGB, you can use the mainboard adapter. Depending on the product, this will be included.

Where do I find the product manual?

Most products have their product manual in the accessory box or directly printed on the packaging if the installation only contains a few steps. For the latest version, we always recommend checking the online manual, which can be found under the support section of the product page.

How do I know my GPU will fit?

Because there are many different GPU sizes, it is always recommended to check the GPU clearance beforehand. If the length of the GPU fits within the clearance numbers, the GPU should fit neatly. This information can be found within the ‘Specifications’ section on the product page.

Many Phanteks products are designed to work with standard PC hardware and industry-standard connections. Compatibility depends on the specific product and configuration; depending on the product, it will state in the specifications what kind of connector is used. For example, our NexLinq products have their Linq6 single-cable solution; this will then only work with our NexLinq Hub. An additional adapter cable is available if you wish to use the Linq6 connection to a standard JST.

Phanteks ARGB products

Plug-and-Play ARGB Lighting
Phanteks ARGB lighting is plug-and-play, with no software required. Compatible products can also be connected to supported ASUS or MSI motherboards for software-based lighting control when desired.

Custom Lighting Effects
Phanteks ARGB products feature custom-developed color modes and lighting patterns. We believe ARGB lighting can be both functional and stylish when the right colors and patterns are used, which is why compatible Phanteks controllers come pre-installed with a selection of carefully designed lighting effects.

30 LEDs for Smoother Lighting
With 30 LEDs per product, Phanteks ARGB lighting delivers a smoother color gradient and more refined lighting compared to products with fewer LEDs. The higher LED density allows more color transitions and tints to be displayed simultaneously, creating more detailed and vibrant lighting effects.

Why is ARGB and RGB not compatible?

ARGB (Addressable RGB) and standard RGB use different connectors and voltages. ARGB typically uses a 3-pin, 5V connector, while standard RGB uses a 4-pin, 12V connector.

These two standards are not interchangeable. Do not connect an ARGB product to a 12V RGB header or a standard RGB product to a 5V ARGB header, as doing so may damage the LEDs or other connected components.

Always check the connector and voltage requirements of your product and motherboard before connecting ARGB or RGB lighting.

Is ARGB compatible with my mainboard?

Phanteks ARGB lighting is compatible with motherboards that support standard 5V addressable RGB control, including ASUS Aura Sync and MSI Mystic Light-compatible motherboards.

Check your motherboard specifications for a 3-pin, 5V ARGB header. ASUS may refer to this as an AURA Addressable Header, while MSI may refer to it as a Mystic Light Sync Rainbow header.

Always verify the connector and voltage requirements before connecting your Phanteks ARGB product.

How many ARGB products can I connect to a compatible mainboard?

Each Phanteks ARGB product requires up to 1A of current. Check your motherboard specifications to determine the maximum current supported by its 5V ARGB header.

The number of ARGB products that can be connected safely depends on the motherboard’s specified current limit. Do not exceed the maximum current rating of the ARGB header.

How many ARGB products can I connect together?

The maximum number of ARGB products that can be connected depends on the controller, hub, and available ARGB outputs. Always check the specifications and connection requirements of your specific Phanteks product before connecting multiple ARGB devices.

For current products using the NexLinq Hub, please refer to the relevant product documentation for connection and power limits.

How do I connect my ARGB product from Phanteks to my mainboard?

Most Phanteks ARGB products can be connected directly to a compatible motherboard using an ARGB motherboard adapter. Connect the adapter to the motherboard’s 5V, 3-pin ARGB header and to your Phanteks ARGB products.

Phanteks ARGB products can be daisy-chained, allowing multiple compatible products to share a single ARGB header on the motherboard. Check your motherboard and product specifications for connector compatibility and maximum power limits.

Some motherboards may include a compatible ARGB adapter cable. If an adapter is required and not included, check the product specifications for the appropriate connection method.

Can I install multiple NexLinq Hubs in my case?

With our current controller, the NexLinq Hub, it is only possible to have a single controller connected. This is because our NexLinq software can only recognize a single Hub to send data to. If multiple hubs are connected to the mainboard, the first one recognized on startup by the mainboard will have the priority.

How do I turn off the ARGB LED’s on the Phanteks chassis ARGB controller?

Press and hold the ‘Mode’ for 2 seconds until the LEDs turn off. When using software control, please consult with the mainboard manufacturer.
